This has been a long journey for the client, but this replacement dwelling scheme was approved with unanimous support at Hambleton Planning Committee today. We picked this project up following a planning refusal by another architect and we worked closely with the client to design a scheme that resulted in 18 letters of support by neighbours and not one single objection.
Working with a truly outstanding team including The Landscape Agency and ELG Planning, the scheme has been designed to the meet the client brief for a high-quality, traditionally designed, English country house and associated gardens. The previously refused scheme sat uncomfortably on the site devoid of landscaping, our key move was to align the new dwelling with the existing barns to create a formal courtyard in a traditional Estate language. The presented a formal south facing elevation and an opportunity to maximise the west facing gardens that have been beautifully designed by The Landscape Agency.
As part of the client's commitment to landscape and sustainability, the scheme also involves the creation of over 600m of native hedgerows, extensive tree planting and ground mounted solar arrays to reduce grid demand.
We hope to be on site later this year.
